Masterclass with Joshua Oppenheimer and retrospective screening THE LOOK OF SILENCE (2014)
Join us for a masterclass by THE END director Joshua Oppenheimer, Professor of Film at the University of Westminster’s Centre for Research and Education in Arts and Media. Prof Oppenheimer will be in conversation with Prof Rosie Thomas (CREAM) on the key themes connecting his work as a film director, activist and academic, and the threads linking his latest film THE END (2024) with his previous works THE ACT OF KILLING (2012) and THE LOOK OF SILENCE (2014).
THE END is Prof Oppenheimer’s third feature film, made as part of his research addressing impunity and cinema's power. To honour his innovative and influential work over the past two decades, supported by the University of Westminster, this very special masterclass will be followed by a retrospective screening of THE LOOK OF SILENCE.
The masterclass and retrospective screening is organised by Regent Street Cinema in collaboration with CREAM.

THE LOOK OF SILENCE:
Through Joshua Oppenheimer’s work filming perpetrators of the Indonesian genocide, a family of survivors discovers how their son was murdered and the identity of the men who killed him. The youngest brother is determined to break the spell of silence and fear under which the survivors live, and so confronts the men responsible for his brother's murder – something unimaginable in a country where killers remain in power.HistoryPT3H13M152025-03-31
