Secret Ceremony special screening: Blue Velvet

This one-off screening of Blue Velvet (1986) is being shown as part of SECRET CEREMONY, LONDNR Magazine’s film club. Join us for an evening that blends the aesthetic and the esoteric, featuring our customary twist on the film-watching experience. This time round, those who stay for a drink at the bar to show off their outfits and mingle with fellow cinephiles have a chance of winning an unusual party favour (participation is not compulsory, but is most heartily recommended!) Movie synopsis: Clean-cut college student Jeffrey Beaumont returns home to visit his sick father and realises his hometown is not so normal when he discovers a human ear in a field. Deciding to investigate, he soon stumbles across a vast criminal conspiracy featuring a disturbed nightclub singer and a drug-addled sadist. With Dennis Hopper, Isabella Rossellini and Kyle MacLachlan in leading roles, this neo-noir masterpiece, delivered by legendary director David Lynch at the height of his powers, blends psychological horror, thriller elements and even romance for an unforgettable watch. Dress code: think 1980s mobwife in tones of blue, from navy to cobalt (if you’re not comfortable wearing blue, pick a blue accessory or wear white, black, or neutral colours to avoid clashing).
